EL ANTICUARIO (Antiques Dealer)

EL ANTICUARIO (Antiques Dealer)

“EL ANTICUARIO” (Antiques Dealer) by Dulce Beatriz Oil on Canvas 36″ x 50″ (91.4 cm x 127 cm)

Paintings on the subject-matter of Old Men are some of my favorites pieces of artwork by Dulce Beatriz . When you study the Antiques Dealer (“EL ANTICUARIO”) you can’t fail but to notice the contrast between the face with the strong eyes, which are almost staring at some one in front of this old man who is most probably trying to exact a lower price from him for the piece he is holding, and the elegant, long-fingered, almost delicate hands clearly accustomed to handling fine pieces of art and delicate objects. Take a closer look at the bronze piece the old man is holding, and you will see every intricate detail of the piece, as well as the patina and the wonderful reflection of light on the various surfaces. The facial expression with the strong eyes, the aquiline nose, the set of the jawline, and the elegant beard, all masterfully highlighted gives us a sense of the ancestral heritage of this old man who could very well be a third generation dealer of fine antiques.
